Aerospace Engineering Teams Take 1st Runner-Up at Malaysia Rocket CanSat Competition
Two teams from the Department of Aerospace Engineering represented the Philippines at the Malaysia Rocket CanSat Competition 2026 in Perak, Malaysia, with Team AYASIB finishing as first runner-up in the 1 KM Rocket + CanSat category.
Team AYASIB comprises Fritzie Mae Maniquez, Aidan Evangelista, Jason Gonzaga, Aemon Colibao, Lenwen Kirk Cacho, and Vincent Jay Paden. Meanwhile, Team JAXCKS, made up of Airrah Bea Alam, Marex Magaron, Khiana Cabalida, Julia Mapute, Sophia Ornopia, and Cassandra Bermudez, also competed in the event.
The teams were supported by faculty advisers John Abiel Villanueva, Wilfredo Pardorla Jr., Ahmed Farjan Abdulcalim, and Angelo Ryan Dolina. The teams’ effort and technical skill point to a promising future for space technology and engineering in the country.
