Engagement and Advocacy

The Campus Has No Walls.

Community engagement is one of the University’s core functions, alongside instruction and research: organized, sustained, and accountable to the communities it serves.

How the University Engages

Through its community engagement arm and the social formation offices, the University partners with barangays, schools, cooperatives, and civil society across the region: literacy and education programs, disaster response and resilience work, livelihood support, health outreach, and legal aid through the College of Law. Students engage through service learning woven into their coursework, and through the outreach programs of student organizations.

What the University Stands For

Engagement and advocacy are inseparable at the Ateneo. The University lends its voice, research, and convening power to the causes its mission demands: good governance and democracy, human rights, the environment, the rights of Indigenous Peoples, and the dignity of the poor.

Being Persons for Others.

It is not a graduation wish. It is the job description.
