ADDU Community Connectivity Empowered by Satellite Services for Mindanao (ACCESS Mindanao)

Deploys satellite internet infrastructure to bridge the digital divide in remote and isolated Mindanao communities, enabling access to education, health, and social services. Also conducts research and drafts policy recommendations to inform national connectivity roadmaps, including a potential future Philippine satellite program.

Al Qalam Institute (AQI) for Islamic Identities and Dialogue in Southeast Asia

Enhances the university curriculum with materials on Islamic values education and conducts research on Islamic identities and Muslim communities in Mindanao. Fosters intra- and interfaith dialogue and community outreach to build stronger relationships with Muslim communities in Southern Mindanao.

Serves as Ateneo de Davao University’s premier business incubator, driving high-impact industries and empowering startups to deliver solutions aligned with Mindanao’s priorities, global trends, and regional strengths — with a current focus on aerospace, robotics, and environmental/security applications, supported by DOST-PCIEERD funding and mentorship pathways.

Ateneo Institute of Anthropology

Produces anthropological scholarship on the diverse and evolving cultures of Mindanao, enriching public understanding through commissioned and self-initiated studies. Provides opportunities for community partnerships that address local development issues and promotes anthropological knowledge through its academic programs.

Delivers basic, intermediate, and advanced language courses to students, professionals, and international learners in multiple languages beyond the standard curriculum. Supports international student integration through Intensive English and local-language/culture programs, and equips learners preparing to study, live, or work abroad.

Ateneo Legal Aid Services

Provides free legal assistance and representation to indigent clients and marginalized members of the community who cannot afford legal counsel. Often staffed with law faculty and students, giving law students practical legal-aid experience while serving the public interest.

Ateneo Migration Center (AMC)

Conducts research and generates policy responses to migration issues affecting Mindanao, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Uses gender-based, culturally sensitive, and rights-based approaches to advocate for migrants’ welfare and to build capacity among affected communities.

Ateneo Public Interest and Legal Advocacy (APILA)

Advocates for public interest causes and human rights, engaging in policy work, legal advocacy campaigns, and public-interest litigation support. Works closely with civil society groups and the university’s law school on issues affecting marginalized sectors in Mindanao.

Ateneo Resource Center for Local Governance (ARCLG)

Provides training, technical assistance, and resource support to local government units (LGUs) and their officials to strengthen governance capacity in the region. Serves as a bridge between the university’s academic expertise and the practical needs of local governments in Mindanao.

Center Against Illegal Drugs (CAID)

Leads the university’s multi-disciplinary campaign against illegal drugs, combining prevention education, mandatory drug testing, and rehabilitation support for drug surrenderers/reformists. Coordinates with government agencies (PNP, PDEA, DOH) and barangays on anti-drug strategy, policy training, and community reintegration programs.

Conducts business-related research and provides training/extension services to entrepreneurs, businesses, and communities in accounting, management, HR, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Bridges the School of Business and Governance’s academic expertise with real-world business and economic development needs in Mindanao.

Center for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technology (CREATE)

Initiates and conducts engineering/technological research on renewable energy and appropriate technology solutions, translating findings into practical applications for communities and industry. Integrates its research with instruction and extension work, emphasizing technology’s role in societal development.

Conducts research and analysis on domestic and international political issues concerning Mindanao, producing policy briefs and scholarly outputs. Provides a platform for scholars, faculty, alumni, and students to network and pursue interests in political science and international relations.

Center of Psychological Extension & Research Services (COPERS)

Delivers psychological services, counseling, and research to the university community and the public, including psychological first-aid and debriefing for individuals affected by trauma or crisis. Supports university researchers and other offices (e.g., CAID) with mental health referrals and intervention when needed.

Community Engagement and Sustainable Development Office (CESDO)

Leads and coordinates the University’s community engagement, extension, and development initiatives, ensuring that all activities are participatory, innovative, sustainable, and aligned with social justice, development goals, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It coordinates community extension and engagement programs across all University units, supports partnerships with communities, civil society organizations, and development agencies, integrates community engagement with instruction and research, and supports service-learning and community-based learning initiatives.

Confucius Institute

Teaches Mandarin Chinese language and promotes Chinese culture through courses, proficiency exams (HSK), certifications, and cultural immersion programs. Supplies Mandarin instructors to partner schools across the Visayas and Mindanao and strengthens Sino-Philippine educational and cultural exchange.

Davao Museum of History and Ethnography

The Museum preserves, curates, and promotes the cultural heritage and historical narratives of Mindanao and its peoples. It will curate exhibitions and collections on the history, culture, and ethnography of Mindanao, including the Jesuit mission in Mindanao as part of the region’s historical narrative; support research, education, and public engagement through museum programs; preserve cultural artifacts and archival materials; and engage communities and culture bearers in heritage work.

Institute for Socio-Economic and Development Initiatives (ISEDI)

Designs and implements development projects that promote socio-economic empowerment of vulnerable and marginalized groups, particularly farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries. Partners with government agencies (e.g., DAR) on livelihood, market development, and product enhancement projects across the Davao Region.

Mindanawon Initiatives for Cultural Dialogue

Provides scholarships and cultural formation programs for Lumad (Indigenous) youth, supporting their education while helping them stay rooted in their cultural identity. Also facilitates dialogue and advocacy on Indigenous Peoples’ rights and welfare within and beyond the university.

Research, Innovation and Creative Work Office (RICWO)

Coordinates and supports the University’s research agenda, innovation initiatives, creative outputs, intellectual property development, and publication culture, ensuring quality, integrity, and pathways for scholarly, creative, and societal impact. It manages research grants and project coordination across all units, supports faculty/student research and innovation from proposal to completion, enables research dissemination and knowledge-sharing, coordinates research ethics processes with the University Research Ethics Board, and supports intellectual property identification, protection, and innovation pathways.

Social Research, Training, and Development Office (SRTDO)

Conducts social science research used for policy formulation, program planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation on issues like health, gender, human rights, and poverty. Administers major university survey initiatives (e.g., the City-wide Social Survey) that inform local government and community stakeholders.

Tropical Institute for Climate Studies (TROPICS)

Generates and consolidates climate and disaster-related research and data to support community resilience-building against climate change in the tropics. Collaborates across disciplines (Engineering, Social Sciences) and maintains weather-monitoring infrastructure used for forecasting and disaster risk reduction planning.

Manages the production and dissemination of publishable materials for instruction, research, community engagement, and formation, guided by the university’s Vision, Mission, and Goals. Handles editing, layout, and release of books, journals, and other academic/literary/artistic works bearing the university’s imprint, including materials from outside sources focused on Mindanao studies.
