Campus Ministry

What We Do

Faith formation at the Ateneo de Davao University runs through two connected offices. The Ignatian Spirituality and Formation Office (ISFO) serves the University’s faculty, administrators, and staff, while the Campus Ministry Office (fondly called “Camino”) is dedicated to the spiritual life of students. Together, these offices carry out the University’s mission of forming “men and women for others” in the tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola.

The College Campus Ministry Office walks with the Ateneo de Davao community, especially students, on their personal and spiritual journeys. Grounded in Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the office nurtures integral formation through prayer, devotion, reflection, discernment, and liturgical service.

The College Campus Ministry cultivates a vibrant, visible faith life on campus and forms Ignatian Leaders: men and women committed to a faith that does justice, striving always to be persons for and with others.

The office also champions a respectful, inclusive campus by encouraging inter-religious dialogue and honoring the many faith traditions that call the university home.

Beyond it, the office oversees moderatorships for student organizations, working closely with Ateneo Religious Organizations (ARO) to make sure that student formation and student leadership grow hand in hand. This reflects how Ateneo de Davao University understands university animation, as faith formation is not confined to chapel activities but is integrated into student governance, service programs, and community life across campus.

At The Heart of Campus Ministry

The College Campus Ministry seeks to help the University community encounter and deepen their faith — an emphasis that University President Fr. Karel San Juan, SJ has underscored as central to Ateneo de Davao University’s identity as a Catholic and Jesuit institution (“Fortes in Fide,” Strong in Faith).

The office aims to form and animate the Ateneo community into a family of believers through spiritual and religious formation rooted in Ignatian spirituality, while remaining open to students of other faith traditions. The Campus Ministry Office forms and animates the Ateneo community into a family of believers through spiritual and religious formation, rooted in the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, and it aims to appropriate the Catholic Christian faith in the lives of its learners by providing worship opportunities even to non-Catholic and Muslim students.

This renewed emphasis on faith formation is something the Ateneo de Davao University plans to highlight more visibly, so that students, parents, and the wider community can better appreciate how deeply spirituality is embedded in the Ateneo experience.
