SON Produces 4 Topnotchers, 125 New Registered Nurses in 2026 NLE
Four graduates of the Ateneo de Davao School of Nursing placed among the country’s top examinees in the August-September 2026 Nurses Licensure Examination (NLE), as the university achieved a 96.15% passing rate, nearly 20 percentage points above the national average.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the results on the 18th of September 2026, showing that 28,652 of 37,359 examinees passed nationwide, for a 76.69% passing rate.
ADDU produced 125 new registered nurses, four of whom ranked among the exam’s top ten nationwide: Mr. Clifford Jay Cafe placed 2nd with a rating of 92.00%, Ms. Jad Lara Baid ranked 7th with 91.00%, Mr. John Loyd Castillo placed 8th with 90.80%, and Ms. Alynah Gabriele Alicaway rounded out the university’s topnotchers at 10th place with 90.40%.
The NLEs were administered on 29-30 August and 10-12 September at PRC testing centers nationwide, including Davao, Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, and Iloilo. The later September dates were added for examinees from Region III after the PRC canceled the original schedule in San Fernando, Pampanga, and Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, due to regionwide flooding.
The PRC Board of Nursing released results five working days after testing concluded.
The University expressed its thanks to the leadership of the School of Nursing Dean, Dr. Liza G. Floresca, RN, MAN, as well as the sustained efforts of the nursing faculty, staff, and students throughout the review period and preparations.

Social Work Program Achieves 100% Passing Rate, Tops Schools in Sept 2026 SWLE
Ateneo de Davao School of Arts and Sciences, through its Department of Social Work, produced 18 new licensed social workers after achieving a perfect passing rate in the September 2026 Social Workers Licensure Examination (SWLE).
According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) results, all ADDU examinees passed the licensure exam, giving the university a 100% passing rate against the national passing rate of 76.27% for the same exam period. The university ranked first among schools and universities in the 10-50-examinee category nationwide.

Orellano, Alaiza Janna S. Pellano, Erin Mateo A. Roque, and Krizia Juliana H. Villanueva.
The University thanked Dr. Nelly Z. Limbadan, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Leah Mae Jabilles-Evasco, Chairperson of the Department of Social Work, for their strategic direction and guidance, and recognized the department’s faculty, staff, and students for their continued dedication to academic excellence.
The SWLE is administered nationwide by the PRC to certify graduates seeking to practice as professional social workers in the Philippines. The results mark another strong showing for ADDU’s Social Work program, which has built a track record of producing licensed professionals from Mindanao for the field.
The newly registered social workers are expected to take their oath before the licensing board as part of the standard licensure process for new professionals, with the details to be announced by the PRC soon.
Electrical Engineering First-Timers Post 100% REELE Passing Rate
Ateneo de Davao School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), through the Electrical Engineering Department, produced six new licensed electrical engineers after posting a perfect passing rate in the September 2026 Registered Electrical Engineer Licensure Examination (REELE).
According to results released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Electrical Engineering, all first-time examinees from ADDU SEA passed the licensure exam, giving the university a 100% passing rate against a national average of 49.31% for the same exam period.
ADDU’s new Registered Electrical Engineers are Ella Mayeen L. Ebad, Peniel Joshua A. Jainar, Gabriel Paolo P. Prochina, Oliver Chosen II A. Ramos, Marc Justin O. Rico, and Francis Dan R. Rigor.

Fr. San Juan Reappointed as University President for Second Term
The Ateneo de Davao community welcomed Fr. Karel S. San Juan, SJ, on his reappointment as University President for another three-year term, extending his leadership of the university following his first term that began on 14 September 2023.
Second Term Begins
Fr. San Juan assumed office as the fifth University President of ADDU, succeeding Fr. Joel E. Tabora, SJ, who had led the university for over a decade. In his renewed term, he continues to lead the University in its Jesuit and Ignatian mission, advancing academic excellence and strengthening the service of ADDU to Mindanao and the wider community.
Track Record and Credentials
Fr. San Juan brings to his renewed term a breadth of academic and administrative experience. He holds degrees in Mathematics, Development Management, and Sacred Theology, along with a Doctorate in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University. He has taught, published, and worked extensively in strategic planning and organizational development across schools, NGOs, government agencies, and Church institutions.
Prior to leading ADDU, he served as President of Ateneo de Zamboanga University from 2013 to 2023. His tenure there was marked by strong institutional leadership, including guiding the university through significant transitions such as the shift to the K-12 curriculum and the adjustments brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also led rebuilding and fundraising initiatives and spearheaded the development of a new campus made possible through a generous benefaction.
Fr. San Juan currently also serves as President of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines.
Continuing Fortiores 2030
As he begins his second term, Fr. San Juan will continue guiding the University in advancing Fortiores 2030, ADDU’s strategic framework for 2025 to 2030. The plan centers on developing discerning and adaptive leaders, deepening the University’s peace and development work in Mindanao, and strengthening its digital capabilities and institutional partnerships.
Under this framework, Fr. San Juan continues to bring the Ateneo de Davao community together toward a more integrated, responsive, and mission-driven University.
What’s Next for ADDU
In welcoming his renewed term, the Ateneo de Davao community has expressed confidence in his continued direction for the University, rooted in Ignatian values and a commitment to service in Mindanao and across the nation.
Fr. San Juan’s second term is set to run for three years, continuing the university’s mission under his leadership.
