Ateneo de Davao University Undergoes CHED Onsite Visit and Evaluation for Proposed Master of Chemistry Program

Ateneo de Davao University, through the School of Arts and Sciences, underwent an onsite evaluation by the Commission on Higher Education  Office of Programs and Standards Development (CHED OPSD) on 14-15 July 2026, as part of its application to offer a Master of Chemistry program.

Held on the VPHE Workroom, 7th Floor of CCFC Building, the evaluation focused on the university’s compliance with CHED Policies, Standards, and Guidelines (PSGs). Reviewing the institution’s readiness to deliver quality graduate education, the CHED team examined faculty qualifications, curriculum design, library resources, instructional support, and the capacity of its chemistry laboratories and research facilities. An ocular visit to the university’s chemistry laboratories and research facilities was also accompanied by AdDU’s program representatives.

AdDU’s panel of represenatatives was led by Fr. Antonio M. Basilio, SJ, Ph.D., Vice President for Higher Education; Dr. Maria Teresa B. Isidor, Assistant to the Vice President for Higher Education for Academic Matters; Dr. Jerome A. Serrano, OIC Dean for School of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Renante D. Pilapil, Dean of Graduate School; Dr. Maria Cleofe N. Badang, Coordinator of Graduate School Program in Chemistry; and Dr. Agnes T. Aranas, Assistant Dean for Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

The CHED evaluation team included Technical Panel Members for Master of Chemistry, Dr. Mylene Uy, Dr. Wilfredo Chung, and Dr. Maribel Nonato, along with Ms. Remedios Talingdan, Education Program Specialist II from the CHED Central Office, and Ms. Lesele O. Condeza, Education Supervisor II from CHED Regional Office XI.

The program’s application remains pending, with the university now awaiting CHED’s decision following the evaluation.

If approved, the Master of Chemistry program would expand AdDU’s graduate offerings, aligning with the university’s stated commitment to fostering advanced scientific learning and to serving Mindanao and the nation.
