MAGIS MIC Premieres First Episode, Featuring Rising OPM Artist Kenjee Tan
Ateneo de Davao University’s newest student-led podcast series, MAGIS MIC, launched its first episode on the 24th of August 2026, featuring Kenjee Tan, a Spotify and Apple Music-verified artist recognized as one of the most promising OPM voices from Mindanao.
The premiering episode features the performance and personal story of Kenjee Tan, whose career began in 2020 when he started uploading covers on YouTube. By age 16, he had become a self-produced singer-songwriter, releasing original music with self-produced music videos between 2021 and 2023.
The episode showcases four performances by Tan: a cover of “Ikaw Sana + Nandito Ako” (from a version of Rob Deniel), a rendition of “Harana,” and two original songs, “SINING!” and “Gayuma.”
His 2023 debut single, “You Lost Me,” earned widespread acclaim and established his name in the local music scene. Subsequent releases, including “Ikaw at Ikaw,” “SINING!,” and “Taguan,” further distinguished his sound, blending classic and retro soft-rock OPM influences with modern, high-energy P-Pop.
Beyond his music career, Tan is a fourth-year Political Science student at Ateneo de Davao University, where he serves as Producer and Vocalist for the Ateneo Repertory Company and a former member of the Ateneo Blue Band. He is a two-time Battle of the Bands Grand Champion, having won both the 2025 U-Fest Musikahan: Ateneo Battle of the Bands and the 2026 Rakrakan sa USEP Battle of the Bands, following a 1st Runner-Up finish at the 2024 edition of the same competition.
Tan served as a guest artist at the 50th Mindanao Parliamentary Debate Championship (MPDC), a nationwide inter-school event, and was a 2023 AFYOP Stars delegate. He also wrote, recorded, and co-produced the 2025 Ateneo Festival of Excellence official soundtrack, “SINING!,” featuring Sandy Eroy. He is recognized as a Davao local performing artist.
On the 16th of August 2026, Tan opened for The Itchyworms at Globe Telecom’s GMusic Fest at Abreeza Mall. He also contributed behind the scenes as writer, recorder, and co-producer for the 2025 and 2026 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) Filipino On-the-Broadcast-Booth (OBB) segment for Region XI’s TV Broadcasting category.
Tan recently released his fifth single, “Gayuma,” with more projects planned for 2026.
