Caring for Our Common Home.
Guided by Laudato Si’ and the Jesuit call to care for our common home, the Ateneo treats ecological responsibility as part of faith, formation, and daily operations.
Sustainability in Formation and Study
Environmental science programs, sustainability woven into curricula, and research on climate, biodiversity, and resilience form graduates who treat the environment as a responsibility, not a resource. Student organizations carry the advocacy forward, from campus initiatives to community action.
Ateneo de Davao University pursues sustainability on its own campuses and in its operations, and stands publicly for the protection of Mindanao’s forests, rivers, and coasts and for the communities, often indigenous and often poor, who depend on them first and suffer environmental harm first.
The University’s environmental commitments align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, from climate action to life on land and below water, pursued not as compliance but as conscience. Cura Naturae, the care of nature, is one of the University’s seven core values.
Borrowed from Our Students
The earth is not inherited from our ancestors; it is borrowed from the generations we are forming now.
