Languages, Literature, and Arts

The Department of Languages, Literature, and Arts serves the needs of AB English and AB IDS students as well as other programs requiring language subjects. Under the department are two language centers: the Matteo Ricci Mandarin Program which focuses in the promotion of Mandarin language and Chinese culture; and the Ateneo Language Center which offers instruction in English, Filipino, Cebuano, Nihonggo and Spanish among others.

Asde from language training, the department also prepares students to have a keen appreciation of the processes and products of human creativity and culture, particularly literature and the Arts.  This training aims to form individuals who can express themselves creatively in any chosen endeavour, discriminate among human values and live according to those values essential to their development as persons for others.
