The Ateneo de Davao University (ADDU) Rocketry Team has officially passed its Flight Readiness Review (FRR) for the 2025 Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC), marking another milestone as the first and only Philippine team to compete on this international stage.
Held virtually, the FRR confirms that the team’s second rocket, Siklab (Filipino for “ignite”), is cleared for launch this June in New Mexico, USA. The team is entering the 30,000 feet Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) category this year with a rocket designed to carry a 4.4-pound payload, tripling the altitude goal from last year’s debut.

In 2024, the team made history with its inaugural rocket Sibol in the 10k COTS category. This year’s Siklab represents a major leap forward in both ambition and capability, competing alongside over 300 student teams from across the globe.
The ADDU Rocketry Team aims to build aerospace capacity and innovation in the Philippines. Through this work, the team continues to spotlight Filipino talent in a field where few have ventured, and to lay the groundwork for a homegrown space science ecosystem.
As of 2025, ADDU remains the first and only team from the Philippines to qualify and participate in IREC.
