Last 2 February 2024, the ADDU Center for Politics and International Affairs in partnership with the United States Embassy in the Philippines conducted a forum entitled Non-Traditional Security in Mindanao Sustaining Challenges towards Resilience and Adaptability at the Bapa Benny Tudtud Auditorium of the Ateneo de Davao University, Jacinto Campus.
The forum aimed to discuss, in-depth, non-traditional security issues which have increasingly challenged Mindanao’s contemporary security situation such as economic growth sustainability, various worsening natural disasters, dramatic climactic shifts, and food scarcity. In doing so, the forum featured experts such as Dr. Germilino M. Bautista, Professor Emeritus at the Economics Department of the Ateneo de Manila University; Dr. Rochelle C. Coronel, Director of the ADDU Tropical Institute for Climate; Engr. Nelson H. Enano Jr., Director of the ADDU Center for Renewable Energy and Appropriate Technologies; as well as Engr. Randell U. Espinal, Dean of the ADDU School of Engineering and Architecture. The forum was participated by not only faculty and students of the ADDU community but also representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs as well as other local government units.
