The Society of Ateneo Literature and English Mavens (SALEM) has been recognized as the Most Outstanding Club in the Ateneo de Davao University for the school year 2018-2019. Garnering a total score of 96.71%, SALEM edged out second-place winner SubDominant 7 with a score of 96.26%, third-place winner Ateneo de Davao Association of Chemistry Students (AdDACS), which received a score of 91.67%. A total of 10 campus clubs and organizations vied for the award for the academic year. The award was given in celebration of the University’s Festival of Excellence.
The final ten clubs were selected out of the pool of University clubs and organizations through an evaluation process initiated by the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). Only the ten clubs which got an average score of 90% and above became eligible for the award. After the evaluation, each of the final ten clubs undergo a panel interview which included the deans of each cluster, three student representatives from the Campus Clubs and Organizations (CCO), with the OSA Director, Ms. Theresa S. Eliab, sitting as panel chair. The selection panel tallied their scores to determine the Most Outstanding Club.
The University congratulates SALEM for their achievement, and hopes the club continues its excellent work among the student body. The University also encourages the other clubs and organizations to continue pursuing excellence through their club activities and advocacy work.
