The School of Arts and Sciences will hold the first research conference at the Finster Auditorium,7/F Finster Building on March 4, 2017.

Dubbed as SAS Graduate Research and Innovation Conference (SAS-GRIC), the forum will showcase the completed and on-going researches of the graduate students and alumnae. Outstanding researches will also be recognized.

The oral paper presentation will be conducted in the morning during the parallel sessions of the Computer Studies, Humanities and Letters, Natural Science and Mathematics, and Social Science Clusters, respectively.

Meanwhile, research posters will be displayed and judged in the afternoon. The awards—Best Paper Presentation and Best Poster Presentation—will be given to outstanding student researchers.

Dr. Germilino Bautista, Chair of the Joint-Ateneo Institute in Mindanao Economics (JAIME), will be the keynote speaker. He will talk about Doing Research in the Mindanao Context. The other plenary speakers include Fr. Tony Basilio, S.J., the Assistant Dean of the Natural Science and Mathematics Cluster, who will deliver a lecture on The Role of Research in a Jesuit Community, Dr. Gail T. Ilagan and Dr. Francia Avila who will respectively talk about Publication of Research Results and Other Forms of Dissemination.

This activity is spearheaded by Dr. Renante Pilapil, the SAS Dean, and will be participated by all SAS graduate school faculty and students. Faculty and students from other schools, including the Senior High School, have also been invited. This one-day conference is free of charge.
