Course Director Raissa Matunog confirms nine coaches from the University Athletics Office to have completed the 30-hour Sports Psychology Course offered during the 1st Semester, 2014-15. Coach Lorenzo Michael Porras tops the list of graduates with an average rating of 95.6%. Chess Coach Prospero “Bebot” Cruz who passed away last Saturday was also among those who completed the course, along with Alexander Clavite, Jerry Randell Fornolles, Shahani Navarro, Emilda Ribble, Charlemagne Roscios, Den Erick Basconcillo, and Judel Bailon.
Dubbed Psychology 101, the sports psychology course is the very first in-service training program for university coaches undertaken through a partnership between the University Athletics Office and the Center of Psychological Extension and Research Services, with the enthusiastic support of the Department of Psychology. Serving as lecturers for these special sessions were Nelly Limbadan, Randolph Reserva, Imma Oani, John Paul Martin, Sinver Merlas, Rodge Lelis, Gabriel Lizada, Mark Samante, Analyn Leysa, and the course director herself.
Ms. Matunog presented the graduates today at a simple commencement ceremony held at the Psychology Laboratory in Dotterweich Hall, Jacinto Campus. On hand to congratulate the graduates were UAO Director Emmanuel Rene Ayo and Psychology Department Chairperson Gail Ilagan.
The second batch for Psychology 101 will start during the second semester.
