Davao City, PH (13 October 2014) — Mohammad Abqary A. Alon, a part-time Biology faculty member and MS Biology student in Ateneo, named the asteroid 1982XB and is officially accepted by the International Astronomical Union. The asteroid now bears the name Anagolay, a deity in Philippine mythologies. Anagolay is the Goddess of Lost Things.

Mohammad’s submission is one of over 1500 entries to the international campaign launched by the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) late last year. SGAC, specifically its Near Earth Objects (NEO) Project Group held the campaign and, as a result, named six asteroids.
