Ateneo orients Agusan Scholars

Ateneo orients school  heads from Agusan del Sur about their scholarship last Saturday July 11 at Board Room (F700). The scholarship is a partnership program of the provincial government of Agusan del Sur and Ateneo de Davao University to empower the Department of Education school heads of the province. & The school heads were identified by DepEd to enroll in Master of Arts in Education Major in Educational Administration in Ateneo. The government of Agusan del Sur headed by Gov. Maria Valentina Plaza and Fr. Antonio Samson SJ agreed that Ateneo will provide the program and courses while the LGU of the province will provide the funds for the school head scholars. Ateneo will be the service provider while the LGU of Agusan del Sur will provide for the financial assistance to the scholars, said Dr. Perla E. Funa PhD, Coordinator for the MAEd - Agusan Project and the facilitator of the orientation. Dr. Orencita V. Lozada PhD, OIC of the School of Arts and Science, stressed during her opening remarks that the LGU of Agusan del Sur and AdDU were equally committed to build tools, actions and understanding to shape basic education and put it on the path towards development. She said, "the partnership follows the Republic Act 9155, otherwise known as The Governance of Basic Educational Act of 2001 which aims to enhance the competitive quality of public school teachers.
